Enter the First Round 2009 National Geographic Bee for homeschoolers in Lancaster

For the 21st year, the National Geographic Society is holding a National Geographic Bee for students in grades 4 to 8 who are not over the age of 15. Competitions are on the local, state, and national levels.

LOCAL
Natural Learners will host the local level first round National Geographic Bee for students learning at home. All home-educated students are welcome and may participate.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 13:00 to 15:30 (1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

Pre-register by January 1, 2009, by completing the form below. There is a registration fee of $5 per participant payable to Natural Learners on the day of the event.

Spectators are welcome! Quiet and inquisitive students and adults wishing to learn about the world and support the participating students are invited.

In case of inclement weather, the Bee will be held on Friday, January 9.

STATE
The winner of the local Bee will advance to the next level of competition, a written exam to determine state competitors. As many as a hundred of the highest-scoring students on the exam in Pennsylvania will advance to the state level Bee, April 3, 2009.

NATIONAL
The first-place winner from each state Bee advances to the national level competition, May 19 and 20, 2009, in Washington, D.C.

Note: As per the National Geographic Bee official rules, students may not be participating in any other first local level National Geographic Bee or participating in a cyber-school program to compete in this homeschool local level Bee. Cyber-school students must compete in a registered cyber-school Bee. Students from the same family must compete in the same Bee. Winning student must be prepared to take the qualifying written test by January 20, 2009.
